Very happy! We are pleased to advise that the legendary Spin on Command will be
available for public stud in 2010. Due to his advancing age, we wont
offer a live foal guarantee. However he is very fit and has such good
numbers, he could be around for a while yet!
Congratulations! To Meghan C,
who worked with us a few years ago.She has a very rewarding position
with Agri-Search and is now based in Katanning. We wish her every
success..
Huge news: We are in the
process of securing a larger property not too far from here. The
phenomonal growth we experienced in the last year and the demand for
more of the same has made a move inevitable. The property we hope to
purchase has a large shed suitable for use as an indoor arena, lots of
water and a lovely homestead. We hope to add a guest bungalow asap so
you can come visit anytime with a horse or two and stay for as long as you like!
Yes its true- Applications for the CERT III Horse Breeding traineeship are now being accepted and will close on July 30th. Details.
Sad news! After
two weeks of very intensive care, sadly Suzy the super circus cow died.
She had been doing so well, finally eating and drinking etc. It seems hardware disease may have prevailed despite our best efforts. We thank our clients for
their patience and assistance.
Out and about
The 2009/2010 season has been pretty amazing. Ross won 9 drafts and 19 cutouts, plus many places. We are all very proud of him.And we are very excited to see everyone in 2010 and beyond!!!!
Breakers: The following is
brief update for our owners who have horses with us at the moment. All
are in a bridle now and working really well. We hope you will visit
soon and check on their progress!
The Bay SOC Gelding "Milo" is going along so well, very mellow, he will
probably suit a rider who wants to attend Adult Riding Club or similar.
The Bay HCHP/SOC mare is very smart, has huge potential.
The Buckskin mare (by a SOC colt) is very light and responsive, very quick at learning and will make a great performance horse.
The bay SOC mare is exceptional, will suit any discipline!
We apologise to those waiting to get their horse in with us,
unfortunately there is only us and we want to do the best we can by
each horse.
With the purchase of a new, larger
property we hope to have more time for starting horses.Remember to book
early to secure your place!
Farrier News
The rainy weather messes with some people ie shoes lost in mud
creating last minute warranty refits and late arrivals due to horses
refusing to load etc. To avoid
disappointment, always book as soon as you can, we prefer a
cancellation over a last minute booking!
We are getting set for another season as turf club farrier here in
Northam. This means, one day a week is already booked. So to avoid
disappointment or long delays, Book early.
Our prices have increased slightly to reflect the rising costs of shoes etc but we have again absorbed most of the increase.
Other News
The AI Centre has 60 mares+ for late August/September and with Spin
on Command available for one more season at least, its going to be a
huge season!! In 2009,with 170+ horses booked
in, we had six mares go home not in foal. We enjoyed exceptional
success with chilled/shipped semen (92% PPT on first AI) and on farm
breedings (96% first AI PPT). All frozen semen breedings were PPT on a
half dose AI, except one wet mare who was a neg PT. At the moment,
there are 61 mares booked for 2010, mostly to our stallions but
includes some chilled/shipped semen breedings.
We constantly update our skills and techniques via local, interstate
and overseas training in an effort to offer our clients the best
possible service and a positive result.
A little about what we do
We are a farrier business, quarterhorse/stockhorse stud, AGWA and
RWWA licensed artificial breeding facility, injury management and rehab
centre. We are also a registered training provider with CY O'Connor
College of Tafe.
We enjoy campdrafting and cutting events and have some success. We
perform clerk of course duties at NHRC meetings and we are a RWWA
registered race day farrier. We pride ourselves on helping
where-ever and when-ever we can. And, as we are so involved in the
horse industry, if we can't help you with a horse related question or
problem, we will try to find you someone who can.
